9 1/2" long, antique bisque, sockethead character baby, c.1910, by Swaine & Co., Germany, incised: D I P 1 (smaller brother to our item #4757). Wonderful and hard to find baby with antique, brown glass, sleep eys and open/closed molded mouth, original brown hair, baby-style wig and blue, polished cotton, antique baby dress, bonnet and romper with fine detail and lace trim, white leather booties. Excellent condition baby with original, bent-limb composition, jointed body having original finish (one tiny thumb nicked). Fantastic character with distinctive modeling to features, especially around the eye sockets.
