Wonderful, antique cloth, signed on both shoulderheads: Patented, TOPSY- TURVY, black and white child doll by Albert Bruckner, c.1901, Jersey City, made for Horsman as part of their "Babyland Rag" line. Each end of doll has a stiffened mask face with very clear features and sweet expression, one being a little white girl with curly blond painted hair and blue eyes and the other of a little black girl with dark skin and original black "real" curls, brown eyes, painted open mouth with teeth. Joined at the waist they each have either brown or white limbs on their cloth body and wear all of their ORIGINAL clothing: red & white plaid cotton bonnet with ruffle and matching long sleeved dress with trim reversing to solid red cotton dress. Excellent condition with no wear or fading-slight nose dent on white child.
