Extremely RARE and hard to find, Autoperipatetikos (automaton) with key-wound mechanism, circa 1862, and invented by Enoch Rice Morrison of New York City and patented in England with A. V. Newton. See our item #3181 for her, RARER STILL, sister, the china version. Both have the same gold metal boots with rollers and wind-up mechanism to allow them to "walk". This lady has the exact same circular shaped body with the same patent information on the base and wears her original blue gown over lace slip, original leather arms with stitched fingers and separate thumbs. Her blond hair is molded and covers her ears. Excellent condition with no repairs or repainting-some melting of her dress. What a terrific PAIR!
