10" long, rare and unusual, character baby, antique bisque sockethead incised: 200 L.W. & Co. 4/0. He has a solid dome head with finely painted hair, prominent ears, big dimples, open mouth with teeth, inset brown glass eyes, upper and lower finely painted lashes, multi-stroke brows and a distinct double-chin, five-piece jointed composition, baby body with bent limbs and wears an adorable antique baby gown, diaper and light green baby coat with embroidered flowers on the pockets and sleeves. Since Louis Wolf was a New York and Boston distributor for dolls the maeke may have been either Catterfelder Puppenfabrik or another Germany doll maker, c.1909. There are two tiny fill-ins inside the neck socket to smooth the roughness, otherwise excellent condition, slight rubs on forehead and on cheek blush.
