5 1/2" tall, all-bisque, hip & shoulder jointed character doll, identified as "Cupid" on pages 266-7, "All-Bisque & Half-Bisque Dolls"-Angione and greatly resembling Kewpie in quality and appearance is incised: Germany. This one has exceptional modeling & painting with light & dk. blond painted forelock as well as tufts of hair over each ear. The molded curls at the back of his head are unpainted, c.1916, with side-glancing and high-lighted painted eyes (like Kewpie), beautifully dimpled chin and mischievous look, blushed cheeks, very childlike appearance, slightly different head tilt than the one shown in above reference.
