12" tall, French bisque sockethead urchin child by POULBOT with inset, blue (rare) glass eyes, incised modeling around the eyes creates a heavy lidded appearance, tiny, button nose & closed mouth with accent line (pursed lips) softly blushed cheeks, five-piece, French, papiermache (side-jointed) body. Head is incised: S.F.B.J. Paris Poulbot (script). Has a quality, replaced, French, human hair wig in a red/brown shade exactly as the original,c.1914. Wears what appears to be his original clothing, very similar to the outfit shown in Theriault's catalog of 8-31-85. See this catalog as well as the one from 11-8-80 for a complete history of this extremely rare and unusual doll made by the French illustrator and sculptor, Francisque Poulbot.
