Very sought after, high quality china, half-doll pincushion by Dressel & Kister, Passau, Germany, depicting a lady of the French court of the late 1700s (model # MW 108-501 as illustrated on page 29, "The Collector's Encyclopedia of Half-Dolls"-Marion & Werner). She has grey, lined hair with much detail to all her curls extending down to her shoulders, delicate features with double eyelid lines, corner and nostril dots, pretty mouth, nice blush, tapered waist with painted blue symbol signifying Dressel & Kister and the artist's initial. Each arm is molded away with separate delicate fingers, molded and shaded bust. There is a crown of applied lavender roses in her hair (one tiny flower is missing, few tiny petals damaged-very hard to see) and the rose she holds in one hand is missing (very tiny finger damage). She wears an exquisite lavender and blue lace gown with antique blue ribbons and rose trim and is mounted on a matching cushion with china LEGS with tiny pink slippers. Excellent condition and a gem for your collection.
