15 1/2" long, RARE, antique bisque, sockethead, character baby, circa 1910, incised: P.M. Grete 4 with beautiful quality bisque and lovely coloring, large, brown glass, sleep eyes with finely painted upper and lower lashes, outlined open mouth with two inset upper teeth, slightly quizzical painted brows. His chubby baby body is original with excellent finish and good finger and toe detail (one thumb seems shorter) has joints at the shoulders and hips with curved legs and arms. His antique, baby-style wig is human hair and probably the original hand-sewn one and he wears a wonderful, antique style, dark blue velveteen, two-piece sailor style romper is double-breasted with white satin collar and trim and matching blue velveteen sailor cap. Excellent condition, very sweet baby.
